Review of EZBlocker (Spotify Desktop Adblocker)

Tired of listening to terribly long and frequent ads on Spotify but not willing to pay $9.99 a month? Well, this may just be the solution for you!

So I recently stumbled upon this piece of software called EZBlocker. Having abandoned Spotify ever since my Premium trial ran out, I decided to give it a go.

After downloading the program, make sure to start Spotify before starting EZBlocker. You should be seeing something like this:

Make sure to check the first two options! Checking the second option (requires admin privileges: just start EZBlocker by right-clicking and selecting Run as Administrator) ensures that even banner ads are disabled in the Spotify client!

This is what my Spotify client currently looks like:

But of course, the main question would be: what's the actual user listening experience like?

Simply put: it's perfect.

Ever since using EZBlocker, I have been hearing NO ads. Not just ads being muted too; just endless non-stop music playing, zero interruptions. It's basically Spotify Premium for free (unless you really care about that 320 kbps high quality streaming). And if this sounds too much like a sellout: I'm in no way affiliated with the developer (who's apparently not even accepting donations for his work!).

For those worried about security concerns (such as anti-viruses labeling EZBlocker as a virus), the developer has provided the source code for his program for those paranoid enough to examine and compile the program themselves! Hooray for open source software.

Anyway, that's the end of the review! Hope you found this lifehack useful :)
