1) Spending the day at Marina Barrage/GBTB/MBS
Your day can start with kite flying at Marina Barrage. It is where many photoshoots take place. If you do not have a kite and do not have the budget to rent one, all is fine. You can always have a picnic there. All you need to prepare are picnic mat, homemade food, ukelele, book, and/or your camera. (the list is not exhaustive)
I quite like this place because it is really windy and on weekends, there are always families with kids around. It feels good to see happy families with smiles on their faces that manifest unadulterated joy.
Personally, I will avoid the hassle of preparing food for picnic so I will choose not to stay there for the entire day. Hence, what you can do is go there in the morning/evening, and go to other places along the stretch e.g Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, Marina Square and so on. In case of wet weather, you may wish to head down to the Cloud Forest and/or Flower Dome at GBTB. 2) Cycling at East Coast Park (ECP)/ West Coast Park (WCP)
Cycling is yet another budget activity that couples can do. It usually costs less than 10 dollars for a three-hour bicycle rent. Those who stay in the west might choose to go WCP instead of ECP to reduce travelling time.
However I think WCP is really too small for cycling. I was there just recently and within an hour, I have already made like three full rounds around the entire area (including the park connectors).
The plus point is that WCP has playground with those cool pyramid structures for you to climb on.
That said, I think some structures are under renovation.
There's also this dock where you can watch the sunset.
Yes, this is WCP, not ECP.
Now, this is ECP, which is significantly larger than WCP. Even though I stay in the west, I actually do not mind the long travel because ECP is (arguably) really more interesting than WCP. And of course there are many other places for cycling, which I will not be mentioning.
3) Sentosa beaches
I would recommend going to the beach in the evening, otherwise it'd be too hot.
What you can do is walk from Vivocity to Sentosa via the Sentosa Boardwalk. The view is pretty nice in the evening and on certain weekends, there might be fireworks. After you reach the Sentosa Station, take the monorail to the Beach Station (for free). From there, there will be three beaches for you to choose from -- Siloso, Tanjong and Palawan beach. Siloso is located the closest from the train station. Though you may prefer to walk further (to other beaches) to avoid crowds.
There is this place near Tanjong Beach that had nice lights. But I think it is because I went during the Christmas Season last year.
Nonetheless, even without the pretty fairy lights I think the beach is still a good place for dates. (I mean it's serene, dark and quiet)
Bonus hideouts:
1) StarVista amphitheatre
This poorly taken panorama can hardly capture the beauty of the view from this place. Every time I come here there will be some couple making out somewhere. Ok, that's an exaggeration, but you get the idea.
2) Rooftop bar at Hotel Jen (Orchard Gateway)
There is this Rooftop bar at Hotel Jen that I went to a couple of times, without buying any drinks. So you must be thinking that I am really shameless for doing so. But you see, the entire area is made up of swimming pool and chairs that are not really part of the rooftop bar per se. The bar is in one isolated corner so I would say the main attraction is the view, which is really really nice by the way. You have take the elevator at the Hotel Entrance (not the Orchard gateway lift) to get to this place with ease.
Other activities that I did not include are mentioned in my previous post. Click here to read if you have not.
